    to file a case/notice of cheque bounce there is no any requirement of police complaint. you can make a complaint to police that will be separate proceeding

    you have to issue the notice at the earliest as the limitation starts running against you if you do not issue the notice at the earliest and within the time frame provided by the statute. police complaint is not required however if the cheque is issued by a developer you may also file a complaint with the EOW.

    Dear Sir, Police cannot register a case or cheque bounces but you have to get issue a legal notice within 30 days of such bounce and proceed.
