We booked a marriage (marriage date was 19 Feb 2017) hall on Dec 21st 2016 by advance amount of Rs. 30,000 n cancelled it due to some issues within 15days. They initially told we will give the money if someone books the hall on the same day n asked us to give a letter in writing as to why the marriage got cancelled n we gave it accordingly. Days passed n after 19th Feb we went asked for our hard earned money back. Then they are telling reverse now that they don't refund as per the condition that is mentioned on the back of the receipt. It's been two months that we have been struggling a lot in getting our hard earned money back. Now I need your help in understanding the legal aspect n are the terms & conditions of the receipt (not refund) legally correct? Can we get the refund? Plz help with the steps that we have to follow to get our money back. Thanks a lot. Appreciate your quick response.

write to your local authority like municipal commissioner for that or file a suite in the consumer court .

If you have signed any documents at the time of the booking, you are not legally entitled to get the refund of the deposit.

Did you get the communication regarding the initial talk that they'll return the money in writing or in oral form? secondly, did you sign any contract? Next, a legal notice can be sent to them regarding the facts and claiming your money back. regards
