A recovery agent trying to extort money by giving false information about him that he is a lawyer and he has notice of sec 420 of cheating and if I do not pay the amount in 3 days he will lodge FIR Also, he makes a fake call with help of another unknown person as a police inspector and the person told me to pay and said that the recovery agent is came here to lodge a complaint if you don't pay I will lodge FIR and arrest you. After I complain to the bank, the nodal officer denied that no notice is sent by them and accept that the recovery agent is from their company, they are investigating in the case as per the call recording which I provided. Also, the nearest police station denied of any call made and no such person is on their record. Can I file a case of extortion?

Hi, Yes, you can file a complaint for extortion under S.383 of the Indian Penal Code. In addition, you can also file a complaint under Sections 503 and 506 for criminal intimidation
