    There's no strict rules mandating the police to arrest.. If u need some progress in investigation approach a High court lawyer for expeditious action or Change of investigation officer..

    File a writ petition in the high court for police inaction. If you are unable to afford lawyer's fees, then contact High Court Free Legal Aid Service to appoint a advocate and conduct your case free of cost. They won't charge any fees.

    If any FIR is registered it must be sent to court by police within 24 hours from the date of registering. See whether any receipt is given to you or not.
