The minor child currently staying with her mother and parents are divorced and custody is with mother as per divorce decree. The mother works and lives abroad. The child applied for a passport with the grandmother as a local guardian but passport authority need some legal document for the grandmother to be a legal guardian so she could sign documents and give consent as the mother is not here to sign documents. 1. Is there a possibility of getting legal guardian of a minor by the grandmother as per guardianship act 2. Does it require any petition in district or High court taking into consideration of mother's physical presence? 3. How much time does it take if the petition is filled?
