Hi, You must have proof of your claim to the land. If the land has been in the tenant's possession for more than 12 years, they will have a claim of adverse possession. You can contact your state's free legal aid cell if you are unable to afford litigation, a lawyer will be assigned to you for no cost.
Free legal aid is the provision of free legal services in civil and criminal matters for those poor and marginalized people who cannot afford the services of a lawyer for the conduct of a case or a legal proceeding in any Court, Tribunal or Authority. You are eligible for free legal aid if you fulfil the criteria under Section 12 (h) of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.
Kindly you approach Legal Aid in your District Court within whose jurisdiction land is situated. If you are poor, then you will get free legal aid.
If you have and possess all the documents proving your title over the land to you can proceed for Recovery of possession. But keep in mind the principle of limitation.
