Rent To Rent Control Commission

I have been paying the rent for my house to rent control commission from the last 4 years. Due to lockdown, my rent from February 2020 is not been paid. Today when I went to my lawyer which takes care of the rent by submitting it to the rent control he mentions since you have not paid for 3 months you are now considering defaulter and now again we have to file an affidavit to start all over again to pay the rent. During the lockdown, I thought the court is not operating, and moreover since I live in Kolkata where the Lockdown was imposed very strictly I thought that my lawyer won't visit public places like Court. I would like to know whether in my circumstances I would be considered defaulter. Moreover, I don't want to go through my lawyer to pay the rent to the rent control so is there a way where I can pay my rent myself online. Your help and cooperation will be appreciated.
