I had moved into a PG on 20th march and paid rent for 10 days(3.5k) and also security of 1 month rent (10K). they had an agreement that without reason vacating the PG without one-month notice will result in non-returning of security deposit. Due to Covid--19 lockdown, I vacated the PG and left on 23rd march. Since this was an unforeseen situation involving a global pandemic do I have a right to claim the security deposit? The PG owners are not returning stating that a 30 day notice period was required. Is there any legal way to get the money?

Dear Sir, Yes, you definitely get back with interest and compensation. There are cases where in govt. directed the owners of PG centers and hostels not to collect the rents during this lockdown period. Yes you have a right to claim the security deposit because covid 19 is a most valid reason. You can file a suit for recovery.
