It is said that “Law has very long hands”. This is proved in Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh, where an accused was convicted of molestation after 32 years.
Farrukhabad Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Atiquddin sentenced the convict to one year’s rigorous imprisonment for his conviction in a 32-year-old molestation trial. He also fined two thousand rupees. If he does not pay fine, he will have to suffer one more month imprisonment. The incident is from a town in Kamalanganj.
Pramod Kumar used to molest a woman and her daughter. Women’s instructions did not affect him. On July 28, 1985, a woman went to the market with her husband. The minor daughter was alone at home. Pramod entered the house and started molest her. When the people of the surrounding area came up with the noise of the teenager, he ran away. On returning the family, the teenager described herself, then the mother filed a report in the Kamalanganj police station.
The accused had got bail from the court but later he did not appear in the court on dates. In 2016, non-bailable warrant and distrainment notice was issued against him. Seeing the strict attitude of the court, the police arrested Pramod on December 17, 2016, and presented him to the court and he was sent to jail. Since then, he has been arrested in jail. ACJM ruled on Monday after the trial was over. The court ordered the adjustment of the period spent in the execution of the convict in the jail.
