Senior lawyer Harish Salve is discussing a lot. He kept the Indian side in the international court in the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav by taking one rupee fee. In his career of 42 years, he has kept sides of many corporate houses in Court. He is counted among the most expensive lawyers in India. Failed twice in CA exam
Harish wanted to become an engineer from childhood. But coming to the college, he shifted to chartered accountancy (CA). He failed twice in the CA examination. On the advice of renowned lawyer Nani Ardeshar Palkhivala, he started studying law.

According to Salve – “My grandfather was a successful criminal lawyer. Father was a chartered accountant. Mother Ambthi Salve was a doctor. Therefore, at a very young age, professional qualities had come in me.”
Father brought the Cricket World Cup out of England for the first time
Harish Salve’s father was NKP Salve was a CA, known more about his cricket administrator and political shift with the Congress. For the first time, he is credited for having Cricket World Cup outside England. In the name of him, the BCCI started the NKP Salve Trophy in 1995. He was also a minister in the governments of Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and PV Narasimha Rao. He was also quite vocal about the demand for Vidarbha to make a separate state.
First Case of Dilip Kumar
Harish Salve got the benefit of father’s contacts and his meeting with his grandmother Palkhivala. According to Harish, his career started in 1975 with the case of film actor Dilip Kumar. Harish helped his father in this case.
Dilip Kumar was accused of possessing black money. The Income Tax Department sent him a notice and demanded heavy damages with outstanding taxes. The matter reached the Supreme Court after the Tribunal and the High Court.

Recalling his shy days, Salve says, “I was the lawyer of Dilip Kumar in the Supreme Court. Judges get 45 seconds to dismiss the appeal of the Income Tax Department. Dilip Kumar was a family friend. He was very happy. If I had to argue in the court then my voice would not be split. Fortunately, the court did not ask me to cross-examine.
