High Court orders centre and RBI to review new notes
By Vkeel Team
There is question arise on the design of 200 and 50 new notes issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The All India Confederation of the Blind has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court. It has been said in this petition that there is no identification mark for blind people in new notes. With this, they are not able to distinguish between notes of both the value classes. While hearing the case, the central government and the RBI asked to review the new notes.
The bench of Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C. Harishankar of the Delhi High Court has said that they have seen the new notes of 200 and 50 rupees for themselves. It seems that the blind would have trouble finding it. This problem is due to the size of the notes and some special mark not being the textile mark. This aspect has been sidelined in the printing of notes.
The government and the RBI should address this problem immediately after contacting blind experts. The court has asked the government and central bank to clarify the situation till January 31.
