On the issue of a petition to prevent tainted leaders from contesting elections, the Election Commission said in the Supreme Court on Wednesday that there should be lifelong ban on tainted leaders for contesting elections. The Commission has kept this demand in front of the government. The Election Commission said that he had written to the government to amend the law in this regard. The court demanded proof from the Election Commission that when it has written it to the government, show it.

On this matter, the Supreme Court asked the Central Government to constitute a special court for early disposal of criminal cases of leaders. At the same time, the court directed the government to present a scheme in six weeks to set up a special court. The government will also explain the expenditure on the plan.

When it came to structural resources and money to set up the special court, the Center said that the formation of a special court comes under the jurisdiction of the state. On the plea of the Center, the court said that by supporting the formation of a special court on one hand it can not flutter on the other side by speaking to the state.

Apart from making special courts for the case of politicians, the court has asked the government to give details of total pending cases against the leaders. The court has told the government that in filing of nominations in 2014, details of the cases of cases filed by 1581 people for criminal case must be given. The court said that the government should explain how many cases have been disposed of in 1581 and how many have been convicted.

Apart from this, the government also told how many cases were settled in that day. Because the court had ordered the disposal of such cases in one year. Along with this, the court has also asked the government to explain how many new cases were filed against public representatives between 2014 and 2017 and how many of them were dealt with. The government will also tell the court how many have been convicted. The court will hear the matter again on 13th December.

At the same time the Central Government said in the court that it supports the formation of a special court for the cases of leaders’ cases and the early settlement of cases.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Supreme Court had sought details of pending cases against the accused leaders during the hearing on the demand for lifelong ban on fighting the convicted people’s representatives in criminal cases. The court had said, does the petitioner have any details?
