Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath attended the Allahabad High Court’s 150th Anniversary Program on Sunday. The program also included Deputy CM Keshav Maurya, Chief Justice GS Khehar and Governor of UP, Ram Naik. Modi said, “The goal of law is the welfare of every citizen, not only the rich, it should be done only.” The yogi said, “Law is also the ruler of rulers, none of them above.

- “When Allahabad court took over 100 years, then President Radhakrishnan came here, he had said – law is something which constantly changes. History of Allahabad High Court:
- Allahabad High Court is Asia’s largest and oldest high court. It was founded on 17 March 1866. Sir Walter Morgan was the first Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court. – There were only 6 judges at that time, but now there are 160 posts of judges. Apart from this, about 17,000 lawyers are associated with the High Court, but at that time only a dozen lawyers were there.
- This is the country’s first high court, with its own museum and archive gallery.
- Lucknow is the bench of the Allahabad High Court. The High Court was in Agra at the time of the establishment.
