I am an ex-serviceman, served in the Indian airforce for 20 years as an airman. After that, I joined State Govt. job as grade 5 employee. The grade 4 employee whos is just 27 years old is addressing me by name. I asked him to pay respect as I served our country. His reply is - he is my superior and I should call him as sir, whereas he can call me by name. Is there no respect for an ex-serviceman. At least is there any law which says that compulsory minimum respect should be given to ex-serviceman, who served our country.

Dear Sir, Yes, your query is interesting and need of the hour. You may write a Letter to the Chief Justice of your State High Court or Supreme Court to treat your letter as PIL and to direct the Central and State Govts to frame such a law which respects not only the National Flag but also the live soldiers and retired soldiers who are saving the Country the day in and day out.

Mr. Hari , if that person address you in singular and you address him back in same way. only Person who have received Knighthood from England Queen are to be addressed as SIR. There is no such law in our Country calling higher officials as Sir you address him by is post or Mr.
