Reference is made to chapter 3 of dependent family members and Annexure 3VA: Age limit for dependent children(Text of MH & FW OM No.4-24/96-C&P/CGHS/CGHS(P) dt 31.05.2007. I am a central government employee(Air force) and my family has a wife, daughter, mother, father, and elder brother. As per the policy mentioned above except my brother, all are officially on records dependents of me. My brother (Mentally retarded, 75%disability) stays and lives with me. The term family doesn't include my elder brother aged 38 years who is 75% mentally retarded whereas similar conditions in the case of the son are included in dependent criteria. How can I proceed further to make him dependent in order to avail of medical benefits and in service permission such as my brother officially resides with me?

you will have to prove him totally dependent upon you for the benifits of policy you will have to file a case for necessary correction of such situations in the policy act
