My cousin's husband died while employed at a company. The company was preparing to pay the spousal benefits she was entitled to but later said it has been held up due to a legal issue. The legal issue is, a person out of nowhere claiming to be her husband's friend has sent a letter to the company through his lawyer asking them not to pay her without paying him first. He claims her husband took out a personal loan from him. There is no proof of the money given or taken. What should she do next. She is exhausted physically and mentally. He was the sole earner in the household. Now she is being haunted by some stranger asking for money that she did not co-sign and is unaware of. Please advise. Thanks
