Buying A Property In Bangalore

My Father is planning to sell a property and basis that planning to buy an Apartment in Bangalore on the capital gains. Considering my father is making the transaction. Can my name also be added as a joint owner in the new apartment or will it create an issue on tax savings? If not what is the alternative to have my name also associated with the Apartment as I will be only staying there.
