Residential Patta Document

We have received Patta for our residential land in 2003, where the land shows around 2500 sq. ft in the patta. And when we applied for latest patta, it shows only 1830 sq ft. The deficit land (sq. ft) in the new patta shows it belongs to the government. Is it possible to proceed legally as the old patta was also provided by the government in 2003, which shows 2500 sq ft?
