Dear Madam, Your in-laws wish to take you under their control. You should not resign your job and continue with your job and save entire salary amount separately without giving to your husband and in-laws.

Dear plantime sorry to hear that but in this case you can go ahead and file a complaint against them to a nearby police station under section 12 of Domestic Violence Act. Further, in India, the law offers protection against domestic violence by in-laws. Here are some legal sections you can consider: Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 (PWDV Act): This Act defines a broad range of domestic violence, including physical, sexual, emotional, verbal, psychological, and economic abuse. Under the PWDV Act, you can seek various protections like residence orders (right to stay in the marital home), custody orders, and compensation. Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 498A: This section specifically addresses cruelty by the husband or his relatives towards a woman. This includes harassment for dowry, subjecting her to cruelty, or driving her to commit suicide. Additionally, depending on the specific situation, other sections of the IPC might also be applicable, such as: Section 323: Punishment for causing hurt.Section 354: Punishment for assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty.Section 506: Punishment for criminal intimidation.

If the behaviour of your husband is intolerable towards you can anytime send a complaint regarding your grievances in writing to the police station according to your jurisdiction. And if you wish to go legal then you can also file a petition under section 12 DV or section 125 CrPC and claim maintenance for yourself. And if there's no scope of living together then rather stretching the relationship you should file for contested divorce under the ground of cruelty. I would suggest you to go with mutual divorce because it's cost effective and ends up in a maximum of six months. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.
