I am planning to buy a house in Kalyan (Mumbai suburbs). I paid 6% towards stamp duty via cheque to builder last week. Now he is stating that starting 1st Feb 2020, government has raised the charges to 7% and he is demanding new cheque against pending 1% payment. Is it true that stamp duty charges in Mumbai and suburbans regions have been raised to 7%.
