I have filed for divorce on grounds of dowry harassment and mental torture.My in laws and husband have taken Rs 10 lacs dowry , gold jewellery, silver articles and other household items as dowry. I want dowry money and other articles to be recovered.I wanted to known like , after how many years ,dowry case cannot be filed.I married in the year 2013, on 19th Aug.I have sufficient evidence to prove that my husband and in laws have taken 10 lacs dowry and other items.Can i file dowry case atleast now, or is it too late?

The court has the right to consider even after the expiry of the time limit for the filing of a complaint in such an offense, if the court is satisfied that in the interest of justice must to do. Therefore, you can loged a first information report at police station or complaint before the magistrate for dowry harassment.
