Suicide Case

Recently my friend attempted suicide, fortunately she was hospitalized immediately. So now she is bit recovered. I want to ask that can we complaint regarding this to nearby police station? Because the reason for her suicide was her sister-in-law. She was torturing too much. If my friend files complaint, can police take any action ?
