Although many clauses put in contracts may be of wrongful/immoral nature but it may not be necessary that such clause is entirely illegal. More so, the nature of clauses in private contracts is mostly dependent of the signing parties. Also first need to read the service agreement signed between your wife and the company, a better advice could be given after reading all the term and conditions of the contract.
