The criteria of searching for a particular property depand on state to state where the property in question is situated. As far as your case is concerned if you are a resident of Delhi then you can always approach the sub-registrar office where you have clues that the property of your relatives can be found. But this can only be applicable if the property they purchased was duly registered with the office of sub-registrar. If the property is GPA based then it will be very difficult to track. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. In India, the process of obtaining property details after the death of a relative typically involves several legal and administrative steps. Here are the general steps you can follow: Obtain death certificates: Start by obtaining the death certificates of your deceased relatives. This can usually be done by registering the death with the local municipality or registrar of births and deaths. Identify legal heirs: Determine who the legal heirs of the deceased are according to the applicable laws of succession. The specific laws may vary depending on the religion and personal laws applicable to the deceased. Apply for a succession certificate or probate: If the deceased had left a will, the executor named in the will can apply for probate, which is a legal process to establish the validity of the will. If there is no will or if the will is not applicable, the legal heirs can apply for a succession certificate, which establishes their right to inherit the property. Gather property documents: Gather all relevant property documents, including sale deeds, property titles, and any other relevant documents that establish ownership or possession of the property. Conduct property search: Conduct a property search at the local registrar's office or sub-registrar's office to obtain details about the property, such as ownership, encumbrances, and any existing mortgages or liens. Engage a lawyer: It is advisable to engage a lawyer who specializes in property and inheritance laws to guide you through the legal process, assist with document verification, and represent your interests. Apply for mutation of property: Once you have established your right to inherit the property, you may need to apply for the mutation of property records. This is a process to update the property records to reflect the change in ownership. Please note that the specific procedures and requirements may vary depending on the state in India where the property is located. It is always recommended to consult with a local lawyer who can provide guidance tailored to your specific situation and the applicable laws in your area.
